During our time in India beginning in 1959 we took thousands of photographs and even some home movies. Many were black and white and we have a couple thousand color slides which were used to illustrate the culture and work my father and mother were doing there. Some have been lost or damaged. And many more indelible images are pressed between the pages of my mind which cannot be reproduced (yet), except in word pictures which I try to communicate in the text.

 

Pictures capture in time a myriad of memories many of which are beyond the scope of this book. In publication I narrowed them down to 46. Due to prohibitive costs they could not be published in color for this printing, but they and many more are included in the picture gallery which I hope will add much to your understanding and enjoyment of the book and my experience in India.
